190928 Aeon Tebrau, JB, Malaysia

At Aeon Tebrau 2nd level (3rd Level in Singapore's context), you have plenty of choices on what you can eat. With our favorable Sin dollars, you will find that everything you eat will be only at 1/3 of what you are paying in Sin dollars. There are other restaurant like Souper Tang etc.

We decided for canton dim sum cause we have Shanghai dim sum the day before. Totally the wrong choice for us. Unlike the outlet at City Square JB Sentral, the service and food just taste different.
I guess the only dishes we like were the yam fritters and the congee/porridge. The Yuan Yang (coffee+tea drink) taste only like tea and the salted egg bun, the dough was so chewy. I wonder did the chef used microwave oven to heat them instead of using the convention steaming method to warm the food.

The steam pork ribs taste less fragrant compared to the one we dine at D'shanghai the day before. The siew mai was ok and the fried spring roll. Oh gosh.
We get the waitress to check with the chef if the spring roll was burnt.
The chef told her that is was due to the sauce that we see this dark charcoal colour. So we tasted and it tasted like charcoal. We decided not to pursue the matter. One of the senior waitress spotted us taking picture of their spring roll, quickly came over and told us she will do an exchange. Exchange was done and it tasted like fungus this time, though still black. However, before we finish our lunch, we witness the commotion in the kitchen. The chef was gesturing at us and insisted to his colleagues that the spring roll was not burnt. Well, we just leave the place not wanting to know what go on next. This will be our last time dining with them.
Spotted this shop where most of bloggers will talk about and decided to try their chendol.
Flavor of chendol matches what we have when we were young. Just that there are not alot of ingredients. Rather expensive bowl of chendol.
We spotted Hanamaru Udon inside the Japan Village at one corner of Level 3. We were delighted as we love this udon whenever we visit Japan. We just cannot believe it is in Aeon Tebrau.
Settled for Kitsune Udon, beef don and grilled eel don. We missed the Matsuya beef don. So hope this will satisfy our craving. As for the Eel, we ever have once in Yoshinoya Tokyo during sakura season and was good. So we decided to order the most loved bowls here. Funny how, in Japan, Hanamura and Yoshinoya are competitors. At Aeon Tebrau, we pay all the food at Yoshinoya counter.
Now the taste test.
1. Kitsune Udon by Hanamura - The sweet bean curd skin was cut into 3 small parts. The total length of the bean curd skin is half of what we have in Japan. Udon and the soup taste as good as those we have in Japan. It is only RM9.25, so it is very fairly price.  Yes, I really do not mind having it once in a while when I visit Aeon Tebrau again.
2. Beef Don - Though it look like the one at Matsuya Bowl, the taste do not match what we have in Japan. Besides, this place do not use Japanese sticky rice. They use normal chinese rice. (Why!!!!).
We paid RM15.65 got this bow. Well, just take it as eating vegetable rice. It is so disappointing having this.
3. Unagi Bowl - The Unagi taste allright. But again, why are they using chinese rice?????
It cost us RM25.28, close to Sin$9. I could have a bowl of delicious Japanese style, restaurant standard Unagi rice at Bugis Plus. Another disappointment.

So nooooo I will not come here to eat again.

At the end of our day, we were so full that we do not want to have dinner any more. But knowing that we will leave at 8.30pm and will get hungry later, we decided to have a quick bite at the Aeon food hall.
Not much food we find here. YH opt for the Assam Laksa, she said it was good. Hubby opt for mee rebus, he said nothing to shout though is ok. Me... I opt for bean curd drink and fried dough as I cannot eat what they have due to my food allergy.
We ended our trip by getting this Yam Swiss roll from Moonlight. Though the texture is to our liking, it started to taste sour on the 2nd night. So if we want to bring home, make sure we consume by the next morning.

We also bought some bread from Lavender bakery. Ended we like only the Matcha bread.
If you are still thinking if you should head there for shopping? Why not?
